--------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLING LINK STATION PRO --------------------------------------------------------------- Please read the licence.txt file before proceeding These installation instructions may be too detailed for some users and they mainly target the first time installer. So please forgive me if I go too deep in explaining features. Before you begin you will need to know the following information - The name of the database you will be using. - The database username - The password for the database - The name of the host that the database is running on, in most cases this is localhost. Now, unzip the files which you were sent and keep the directory structure the same. You should now have a folder called resources/ This folder is the working directory for Link Station Pro and all files which are created by the build engine will be created in this folder. Also in this folder you will find an admin/ folder and a template/ folder which contain all the files which make Link Station Pro tick. Step One – Editing the config.php file Now we have the files and we are armed with the information for our database, open up the config.php file in a text editor. This file is located in the resources/ folder. Now add the information in the correct spaces for our database connection. Save the file when you have completed. Now upload the folder resources/ folder and all contents to your web server via FTP. The best position for the search engines to find and index the pages would be in your domain name’s root. So that the resources folder can be accessed by going to www.yourdomain.com/resources/ (Obviously changing www.yourdomain.com to your actual domain name. IMPORTANT - Please chmod the files lspro.php and the resources/ folder to 777 Step Two – Installing the Database Tables Now we have to point our browser to the install.php file. This file is especially designed to install all your tables and default content for Link Station Pro to function. Open up your favourite browser such as I.E, Mozilla or Firefox and type in the address bar:- www.yourdomainname.com/resources/admin/install.php You should now have a screen with some text which you should read and understand! Below the button, you will see some important information about the tables which Link Station Pro will create on your database. If any tables exist with the same name you will not be permitted to install this script. You will need to re-open up the config.php file and rename some of the tables. This is only on a very rare occurrence that this situation will arise. Press the button in the middle of the screen which says ‘Click here to install database tables’. You should now see a very nice message which says database installation successful. If you get this message then follow the on screen instruction to access your admin control panel with the supplied username and password. REMEMBER to delete the file install.php after installation as this file is now a security threat and should be removed from your server. That’s it. Link Station Pro should now be installed and fully functioning on your server. You will now need to add your reciprocal links to the system and create your templates so Link Station Pro integrates seamlessly with your current website design and layout. Don’t worry about the templates too much as there are default templates which are used until you create your own. I would like to personally thank you for purchasing Link Station Pro and supporting the work we do and if you require any assistance with the running of this script, please check out our online support centre or contact us.
